Is a Destination Wedding right for us?

There are many reasons to choose a destination wedding and having your day, your way is the best reason.  You may have friends and family that are surprised with your choice and if this is the case, it is important to let them know why having a destination wedding is important to you.  Here are some of many reasons couples we work with decide on a destination wedding.

  1. We would rather spend a few days rather than a few hours with your guests.
  2. Most of our guests have to travel anyway, why not go some place warm?
  3. We are looking for a neutral territory to exchange vows, avoiding a hometown advantage.
  4. We are looking for a nontraditional ceremony and you have always envisioned yourself on a beach not a church in your hometown.
  5. We want to keep our wedding small, intimate and keeping the cost down is important. (Our average destination-wedding groups average around 35 guests).
  6. We want to experience a different culture and wedding ritual.  This is important to our lifestyle and we want to experience this with our family and closest friends.
  7. It’s our second wedding and we just want something different!
  8. We both have children. It’s a great way for blended families to start out in a relaxed environment.
  9. I just don’t have the time or expertise to plan a wedding myself.

Reasons not to have a destination wedding

  1. A significant number of your guests have never traveled abroad before and asking them to do so is a burden both financially and time-wise.
  2. The thought of not being in charge of every detail leaves you stressed-out.
  3. You are not interested in local customs, music and food of the country you are visiting.

Keeping Everyone Happy… is it possible?

If you are committed to having a destination wedding knowing that some cherished friends and family will not be able to come – then have your beach wedding abroad and have a wedding party when return home. Be sure to have pictures out and a wedding video showing everyone what a wonderful ceremony you had.
